'"Paint it Black" Collab: Part 2' by thuberbaer

High school is going to begin for me in about 6 days. And due to the fact that I've moved to a new area in the city of Pittsburgh... I'll be going to a new school, as well.

I really haven't been around DeviantArt or Sheezy that much for most of the summer, due to the fact that I was on vacation, then moving, and all the while suddenly re-discovering the outside world around me, through what seemed to be a new perspective - at the same time, losing touch with internet realities.

I've also been putting together a portfolio of my art, to apply to enter an art high school named CAPA for next year... though I'm not sure if I'll be accepted, or if they'll even consider digital art such as animation and video. Even if I am accepted, I'm still not sure if I would really choose to go, as I've always been a bit skeptical about "art education", because of almost all of my past experiences with it... but I'm hoping that it will be a little bit less limiting and more open minded in an art high school.

-----

I also haven't been animating for just about the entire summer, because my animating fetish had almost completely died down, and was replaced by a sudden burst of video and writing fetishes... which still exist, but have mostly slowed and settled down.

I've been wanting to get back into Flash again... but soon after I moved, and my animation fetish was just beginning to replenish itself, my Wacom tablet began exhibiting rabid behavior and it had suddenly became somehow incompatible with my computer.
The indicator light at the top of it would flash rapidly, and the tablet would simultaneously move the cursor all around the screen, clicking everywhere, and opening several folders on its own, while I wasn't even near it, and nothing was touching it.
Wacom's technical support had no idea what was going on... other than figuring out that it was a non-hardware AND non-software problem with my computer - though after multiple tests, no one could seem to figure out what that problem was.

One film that I've been awaiting for quite a while, is "The Science of Sleep", directed by Michel Gondry (the director of "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" and "Human Nature", along with several great music videos and his own art videos). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0354899/
Its the first 'full film' he's both directed and written the screenplay for, instead of directing one of Charlie Kaufman's (the writer of "Adaptation", "Eternal Sunshine", "Being John Malkovich", and "Human Nature") who is, in the meantime supposedly working on a new film which will be his directorial debut) screenplays. Though I am slightly skeptical about how the screenplay will really turn out... since Michel Gondry is a director, who probably has little experience with screenwriting.

From what I've seen of "The Science of Sleep" so far, it looks really interesting, with a blend of stop motion animation integrated into video:

Also, I saw a movie last night, named "Quinceañera". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451176/
At an earlier time.
It was a pretty great film, which really gave off a feeling of honesty... and overall seemed oddly realistic, while still having quite a few obvious cliches scattered all over the "main" storyline.

I saw "Little Miss Sunshine" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449059/
last week, as well... and the best way I can think of to summarize it, is... in general, a "crowd-pleasing", relatively fast paced, "feel-good" independent film.
If anything, I think it was mostly lacking in terms of originality... but otherwise, the interactions between characters, and the visuals made up for a lot of that.
It did lack almost all of the honest feelings that Quinceañera brought, and really didn't succeed in any sort of realism in the areas in which it seemed to be trying, but it did have a very comic, and semi-realistic feeling to it.

I made an entry for the Colbert Report Green Screen Video Editing Challenge... for some reason:

I thought it might be an interesting twist on the way the previous entries had been going in general... usually sticking to the lightsaber/sword fighting theme.

And... Yes - I re-used animation, for the most part.

But... again, my Wacom tablet is now incompatible with my computer, and I was also on a laptop... using a laptop pad, instead of a mouse.

let's get married on a mountain where a lightning bolt will send us into eternal bliss for .5 seconds. After our bodies are charcoaled like tarred lungs we will run around in a dreamy meadow full of sparrows and dandelions.
